World Press Freedom Day Panel-Debate

Democracy in Progress (DIP) Radio Program

May 8, 2018

The May edition of Democracy in Progress (DIP) featured a debate for World Press Freedom Day. Moderated by a journalist from Radio de la Paix, the Public Affairs Section invited two journalists to speak about the challenges for print media in the digital era. In front of an audience of journalism students, working press, and officials from government media regulatory agencies, the debate took on sensitive issues of press independence, quality of media content, and the need for fact-checking in both traditional and social media realms. The debate was very useful for the journalism students who plan to enter the profession. DIP is produced in partnership with Radio de la Paix (formerly UN radio ONUCI FM)
