During their mission to observe Ivorian local elections in Zanzan (northeast Cote d’Ivoire), a delegation from the United States Embassy visited the Comoé National Park from 10 to 11 October 2018.

Conducted by Ms. Stephanie Burk and Ms. Juny Canenguez, the team used their time to visit the village of Kakpin, which is neighboring to the park. Ms. Burk, on behalf of the delegation, congratulated the citizens of this beautiful village for their involvement and commitment in the protection of the site, which became again a UNESCO World Heritage in 2017.

The two heads of delegation, on behalf of the U.S. Embassy, donated a batch of books to Kakpin Public Primary School and to the Library of the Lycée 1 and 2 of Bondoukou.

Following these events, Ms. Burk and Ms. Canenguez participated in a press conference and a radio program to congratulate the Ivorian Government for maintaining the park and for working with the local population to continue to protect it.
