Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Upcoming Presidential Elections

The U.S. Embassy reminds U.S. citizens residing in or traveling to Cote D’Ivoire that the Presidential election is scheduled for October 25, 2015.  The U.S. Embassy recommends U.S. citizens in Côte d’Ivoire maintain a high level of security awareness at all times.  The period leading up to, during, and following the election is a good time for U.S. citizens to review their personal security and preparedness plans.  Although there have been no specific incidents of violence or threats targeting U.S. citizens, the Embassy urges U.S. citizens to exercise caution and stay current with media coverage of local events.

Monitor local media for any changes in the election schedule. Election results are expected to be announced within a week of the election.
