Event: Côte d’Ivoire’s regional and municipal elections will take place throughout the country on September 2, 2023. The Cote d’Ivoire government is preparing for the administration of the elections, including with enhanced security measures and outreach to encourage a peaceful democratic process. Elections have historically raised political tensions and sometimes resulted in limited pockets of violence. Political tensions may persist into the days following the election as officials count the votes and announce the results.
