Location: Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire
Event: Amadou Gon Coulibaly, the Prime Minister of Cote d’Ivoire, died on July 8 after falling ill at a ministerial meeting in Abidjan. The news was confirmed by the Office of the Presidency on Radiodiffusion Television Ivoirienne (RTI) yesterday evening. The Ambassador extends his condolences to the government and Ivoirian people. At this time there are no additional impacts on Embassy operations, although all routine consular services remain suspended due to the COVID-19 health precautions already in place.
