Payment Methods & Details

Please note:  All payments must be made in cash in U.S. dollars or the equivalent in West African CFA francs at the time of the appointment.  Credit cards or personal checks are not accepted.  Fees for passports are available on our website here.

Appointments & Location

There is limited walk-in service for certain renewals of adult passports.  All other applicants, including minors, must make an appointment for any services related to passports, citizenship, or birth registration. These services are by appointment only.  Please visit our appointment website here: https://evisaforms.state.gov to make an appointment.

Passport services are not available on weekends, or on Ivoirian or American federal holidays.

What to Bring

On the day of your appointment, please bring the following documents.  Failure to provide the documents requested may delay the processing of your passport application. You make be asked to reschedule your appointment once you have gathered all the documents.

  • Completed Form DS-11 or DS-82;
    • Find out which form you need on our website here.
    • If you qualify for a DS-82 renewal, an appointment is not necessary.  There are walk-in hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • 1 photo (5×5 cm) taken within the last 6 months which is in compliance with the photo requirements here;
  • U.S. passport and 1 copy, or other evidence of citizenship;
  • U.S. social security number, if available;
  • The fee in U.S. dollars or CFA which must be paid in cash at the Embassy at the time of the appointment (find out how much on our website here);
  • For minors only:
    • The photo identification and 1 copy, for each parent.
    • The child’s birth certificate and 1 copy
    • Photos showing age progression from age at previous passport to present
    • The child and parent(s) must be present at the appointment. If the parent(s) cannot attend the appointment, please complete and notarize Form DS-3053: Statement of Consent: Issuance of a Passport to a Minor Under Age 16.

Additional Information

All entrants to the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy Abidjan are strongly encouraged to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth while inside the building. Individuals who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 may not enter U.S. Embassy grounds.

Mobile phones and other electronic devices are not permitted on U.S. Embassy grounds, including the Consular Section.

Emergency passports: For the issuance of an emergency passport, please be prepared to state the reason for the emergency and present a flight itinerary showing urgent travel.  Since mobile phones and electronic devices are not permitted on U.S. Embassy grounds, please bring hard copies of your supporting documents.

Please allow 2-3 weeks for routine passport processing.
