Embassy Kicks Series of DVC Trainings for Journalism Students

Approximately 45 journalism students and teachers from the national journalism institute, ISTC, gathered at the United States Embassy on February 25 to participate in the first of a series of digital videoconferences (DVC) organized through ARS Paris.

The first program in the series was entitled “How to write a lead paragraph” led by international journalism consultant Eduardo Cue from African Regional Services in Paris. Information officer Travis Murphy welcomed the participants before Cue gave a presentation focused on different types of news introductions and elements of professional news writing.

The program is part of a series of DVCs on topics from the IIP publication, “Handbook of Independent Journalism” and allows the Mission to emphasize the importance of professionalism in journalism to young journalists.
