PAS Abidjan partnered with local Tech Hub Akendewa to organize a TechCamp for thirty female students between the ages of 15-20.

Akendewa’s director is a Mandela Washington Fellow and two additional camp mentors are alumni of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) program and the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.  These Alumni joined forces with powerful Ivoirian women “Tech Stars” to kick off Cote d’Ivoire’s inaugural Tech Camp featuring the theme: “Innovate, Impact and Engage.”

These local tech leaders spent four days with the young participants, opening their minds to the idea that having a career in technology is not out of reach based on where they come from or their gender.

Together, the mentors and participants delved into practical hands-on sessions on coding and creating content for blogs, however, the camp also integrated important themes like self-confidence, teamwork and public speaking.  By the end of the camp, strong bonds formed among the participants that will create a network as they move forward to pursue their goals.
