Demonstration Alert – U.S. Embassy Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (September 23, 2022)
Location: Felix Houphouët-Boigny Airport, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire
Event: A strike of air traffic controllers is expected to take place beginning at 08:00 on September 23, 2022. The strike is anticipated to last for 48 hours, but may be shorter or longer. Planes landing in Abidjan may be diverted, and flights departing Abidjan may be cancelled. U.S. Embassy personnel are advised to avoid the airport while the strike is ongoing.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid Felix Houphouët-Boigny Airport in Abidjan during the strike.
- If you have a flight scheduled into or out of Abidjan during the strike, check with your airline prior to traveling to the airport.
- Avoid demonstrations.
- Keep a low profile.
