Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Ambassador Tibor P. Nagy emphasized the importance of reinforcing the trade relationship between the United States and Africa. Nagy, who participated in the 18th AGOA Forum, held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on August 4-6, spoke to several media outlets, including Bloomberg, French news magazine Jeune Afrique, and Radio France Internationale (RFI), a French broadcaster. “AGOA has made it possible to develop trade between the two parties, particularly for African countries exporting agricultural commodities and those producing oil,” Nagy said. The three interviews reached thousands of readers and listeners, especially in Côte d’Ivoire where RFI has its largest audience in the region. Several local print and online media outlets, including Côte d’Ivoire’s popular Abidjan.net reprinted the interviews run by Jeune Afrique and RFI.
