On August 14, the Ivorian Ministry of Health confirmed a case of Ebola in Abidjan. The patient, recently arrived from Guinea, is currently in isolation and receiving treatment.
The Government of Côte d’Ivoire is taking counter measures including contact tracing, re-activation of the Ebola virus surveillance and response system set up during the last outbreak in Guinea earlier this year, continuation of strict compliance with the barrier measures enacted against Covid-19 which are also recommended for the Ebola virus, and intense cross-border collaboration with Guinea. The Government has vaccines against Ebola and will vaccinate target groups (immediate patient contacts, front-line health personnel, security forces at points of entry, etc.).
Further updates and information will be posted to the Ministry of Health Facebook page at:https://www.facebook.com/mshpcmu/
