Ambassador McCulley reflected on U.S. accomplishments and the positive trajectory of Cote d’Ivoire’s progress in his three years as Ambassador in a full-page interview with Fraternite Matin, Cote d’Ivoire’s leading newspaper on August 11. In the interview, McCulley noted that when he arrived, Cote d’Ivoire had just come through a post-electoral conflict and was confronting deep political divisions and wide range of other political, economic, and social challenges. Though challenges remain, “Cote d’Ivoire is back,” he stressed. Ambassador McCulley reviewed the wide range of accomplishments achieved by the U.S. Mission, including saving many lives through the PEPFAR program, assistance with election monitoring and National Assembly capacity building through USAID, the signing of an MCC Threshold Compact, and the great expansion of U.S. trade and investment. The Ambassador departs Cote d’Ivoire on August 23.
